They throw the garbage in and around the dustbin and when wind blows the whole town is filled with dust, plastic and other wastes.
Livestock like cows and goat feed on these garbage which are full of plastic, scruff particles which are hazardous for them.
Whenever there are functions in marriage halls, people dump the waste openly anywhere in front of the hall instead of properly dumping the same in the dustbins, without thinking twice for others.
The foul smell of the garbage creates a repulsive situation for the neighbours residing by such community halls.
Talking to Northeast Now, Sanjai Mahanta, executive officer, Hojai Municipal Board said, “Use of dustbin is not only a responsibility of every citizen but it reflects the nature and the society in which we reside. The government machineries cannot change everyone’s nature.”
“We are working continuously for the welfare of the society but we also desire proper cooperation from the society. Without the help and support of the society, we will never be successful in our dream of over-all development,” he added.
