In a noble way to celebrate the new year days, the ‘Green Mission, Bajali, Assam’ took a laudable step by planting a number of neem tree saplings at B N High School in Vadnagar of Gujarat, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi had studied.

The initiative has been taken to raise awareness about the importance of healthy and green environment in human lives. It also envisages to solve the environmental issues by implementing some positive environmental actions as well as to make the common people aware that everyone is responsible for protecting and preserving the environment for posterity.

Ananda Khataniar,  an avid nature lover and an employee of the Life Insurance Corporation of India’s (LICI), Pathsala branch, who is the director of ‘Green Mission, Bajali’ along with its members and nature lovers, took part in the special plantation programme.

Teachers, staff and students of B N High School and the local public of the area also participated in the programme.

While speaking to North East Now, Ananda Khataniar said, “Trees are our best friends and our life depends on them. They give us oxygen and without oxygen, human life is impossible. Trees provide shade to us, keeping in view the importance of trees, today we came to this place to create awareness among the public to save trees because trees are an integral part for the survival of Mother Earth.”

People cannot live without trees. But in today’s world, deforestation has posed a serious threat to ecology. Trees play a major role in survival of life in many different ways. Trees provide us oxygen that we breathe to live. Trees also absorb many pollutants like carbon mono oxide and sulphur di oxide. So without trees life is not possible at all, he further added.

Khataniar told that he has the dream to spread his mission in a revolutionary manner throughout the country in future.

In the last seven years, the organization has planted more than 25,000 trees with proper protection in various places of Lower Assam and is planning to plant trees all over India to save nature. His plantation area has spread to the entire lower Assam. He has also involved prominent persons, social workers, artists, doctors, students and children in his plantation programme.
