With the people across Assam starting to enjoy picnic in different parts of the State, keeping in view the possibility of picnickers leaving the picnic spots with litters, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has appealed to all picnic-goers of Guwahati to refrain from littering the river banks.

The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMCH) making this appeal through its Twitter handle recently also stated that “penalty will be imposed on anyone responsible for littering the iconic banks of Guwahati”.

The GMC tweeted: “Guwahati Municipal Corporation appeals to all picnic-goers of Guwahati to kindly refrain from littering the river banks. Penalty will be imposed on anyone responsible for littering the iconic banks of Guwahati.”

It may be mentioned that during the picnic season – December and January – a large number of people gather in different picnic spots in and around Guwahati which fall under the jurisdiction of the GMC.

Meanwhile, the GMC has also made an appeal to the people of Guwahati to keep the public places clean by refraining from spitting.

In the appeal, the GMC stated: “Help in making your city the cleanest one in India.”

The GMC on its Twitter handle stated: “This is an appeal from all of us in GMC to all the Guwahatians to kindly keep our public places clean.”
