Assam forest and environment minister, Parimal Suklabaidya has appealed tourists to visit the Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve to enjoy the beauty of nature.
This he said, will help to do away with the Covid-19 induced depression that has set in the society at large.
However, people above the age of 65 years, children below the age of 10 years and pregnant women will not be allowed entry into the park that is situated in Udalguri and Sonitpur districts.
All visitors will have to adhere to Covis-19 protocols during their visit to the park.
“The Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve is one of the most beautiful protected areas in the state and I am always fascinated with its beauty. Covid-19 and its repercussions have resulted in many people suffering from depression. Such people can visit the park, where they get a chance to rejuvenate in the fresh environment” said Shuklavaidya.
He reopened the park for the next tourist season during a function at the Park complex on Friday afternoon.
He also inaugurated the newly constructed public facilitation center at the main entrance of the park.
As a part of a special Covid-19 preventive measure, a disinfect tyre bath has been arranged for all vehicles before they make their entry into the park. Forest department staff posted in the park has also been imparted training on Covid-19 protective behaviour.
