Assam forest minister Parimal Suklabaidya on Saturday visited the Hawaichang forest range in Dholai Bazar area in Cachar to inspect the timber laden vehicles and the teak that were seized earlier on the day by Cachar Forest Division team.

The vehicles were seized while they were en-route to Assam from Mizoram.

This was informed by the minister in a tweet in the evening.

“As a part of the zero-tolerance policy of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, the bordering areas of our state now are equipped with strict vigilance system through joint coordination of various departments to take down any and all illegal activities,” he further said.

“I would also like to praise the laborious efforts of our forest staff who are on continuous duty to eliminate such illegal activities,” the minister further tweeted.

“It is during the present days of BJP-led government in Assam that we are witnessing such prolific vigilance,” he further added.
