The State Film Awards ceremony and Film Festival will be held at the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Panjabari on July 28-29.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Cultural Affairs Minister Naba Doley will be the chief guest and distinguished guest respectively on the occasion.

The events will be held under the aegis of the Assam State Film (Finance & Development) Corporation Ltd., in collaboration with the Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Govt of Assam.
The films to be screened during the festival are Dr Bezbaruah (10-30 am), Dinabandhu (11-30 am) and Bowari (1-30 pm) on July 28 and Chameli Memsaab (10-30 am), Haladhiya Charaye Baodhan Khai (1-30 am) and Village Rockstars (1-30 pm) on July 29.
It aims to encourage the production of films of aesthetic excellence and social relevance, contributing to understanding and appreciation of films and promoting the integration and unity of the State.

The mega event will have competitive sections which are feature films that also comprise children films and non-feature films, including only documentaries and short films.
A total of 36 awards will be given away comprising both the competitive sections. The awards for each category are named after the legends who had made contributions in the respective categories, reports The Assam Tribune.
Moreover, a new list of awards is also included in the Feature Film Section, namely, Abdul Mazid Award for the Best Debut Director, Biju Phukan Award for the Best Debut Actor (Male/Female) and Jayanta Hazarika Award for Outstanding Contribution to Assamese Cinema.
Some of the highlights of the festival will include screening of award-winning films, cultural programmes, award-distribution ceremony, exhibitions and various other interesting segments. The event will witness convergence of artistes associated with various arenas of Assamese cinema as well as those who have made their contributions in films.
