Critically acclaimed Assam’s filmmaker Jahnu Barua has said that documentary film viewing is a part of education with demonstration and documentary film is a medium to showcase the rich culture, tradition and bio-diversity of the country to different parts of the world.
Barua said this while attending the 3rd Manipur International Documentary, Short & Animation Film Festival (MIDSAFF) 2018 which is underway at Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) in Imphal.

The 3rd MIDSAFF 2018 was jointly organised by Films Division, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and MSFDS Imphal.
The inaugural function of the festival held on Thursday was also attended by Commissioner (Art & Culture) M Lakshrnikumar Singh, eminent filmmaker Aribam Syam Sharma, cinematographer & film maker Ranjan Palit, editor & film maker Arjun Gourisaria and Joint Secretary (Films), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Ashok Kumar Parmar.
Screening of the documentary film Brother Jakob, Are You Sleeping, which bagged Golden Conch/Best Documentary of the festival award in 15th Mumbai International Film Festival 2018 marked the first day of the festival which will continue till March 31.

On the second day of the festival on Friday, My Turn (Nae Chalye), Best Short Fiction, 15th MIFF-2018 (Korean-Nakyung Kim), I am Jeeja, Certificate of Merit, 15th MIFF-2018 (English-Swati Chakraborty); I am Bonnie, Special Jury Award, 15th MIFF-2018 (Bengali-SaurabhDutta); Fisherwoman and TukTuk, 14th MTFF-2016 (Suresh Eriyat); Sakhisona, Silver Conch, Short Fiction, 15th MIFF-2018 (Bengali-Prantik Basu) and Ima Sabitri, Silver Conch, Best Documentary Film, 15th MIFF-2018 (Manipuri-Babo Khuraijam) will be screened.
