Tezpur University is all set to celebrate its 27th Foundation Day on January 21, 2020.
The celebration programme will be attended as the chief guest by Sahitya Akademi awardee writer, president-elect of Asom Sahitya Sabha and Assam’s former director general of police, Kuladhar Saikia.

Prof. Ved Prakash, former chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, will attend the function as the distinguished guest.
According to the programme, the function will be held at the Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha Auditorium of the university.
The programme will begin at 10 am.

Prof. V.K. Jain, Vice-Chancellor of Tezpur University will start the programme by hoisting the university flag at 10 am.
The programme will start with the performance of a Borgeet by the students of the university.
While the welcome address will be delivered by Vice-Chancellor Prof. V.K. Jain, distinguished guest and educationist Prof. Ved Prakash will deliver the first Foundation Day oration.
Chief guest Kuladhar Saikia will also deliver another Foundation Day oration.
A vote of thanks will be delivered at 12.05 pm by Prof. Debabrata Das, chairman of the organizing committee.
Tezpur University, a noted central university, was established by an Act of Parliament in 1994.
The objects of the university as envisaged in the statutes are that it will strive to offer employment oriented and interdisciplinary courses to meet the local and regional aspirations and the development needs of the state of Assam.
It also aims at offering courses and promoting research in areas which are of special and direct relevance to the region and in emerging areas in Science and Technology.
The university is located at Napaam in Tezpur under the Sonitpur district of Assam.
The vision of the university is to develop human excellence and inculcate leadership through hard work and creativity while its mission is to render the university as one of the most preferred destinations of students, faculty and scholars and employees.
