The extended campus of the School of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry was inaugurated on Wednesday at the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary campus in Kokrajhar district’s Titaguri.

Bodoland Territorial Council executive member, in-charge of Fishery and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary department, Shyam Sundi, attended the programme and inaugurated the extended campus.

The extended campus will offer Veterinary Filed Assistant (VFA) training course for one year Elementary Knowledge on Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science.

A total of 66 students including 55 from the Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD) and 13 from various districts of Assam have been enrolled for the year 2019-2020.

The School of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Kokrajhar has been turned into the extended campus of School of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, Assam at Ghungoor in Silchar.

Speaking on the occasion, Shyam Sundi said the school has open opportunity for the students of BTAD region and other districts of Assam in receiving training courses in Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science instead of going to Silchar.

The extended campus will also create trained manpower for working in the field.

Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) additional principal secretary Robinson Mushahary, director of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary department, Assam Dr Pulin Chandra Das, principal of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Kokrajhar, Dr PC Sharma, director of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary department, BTC Dilip Kumar Bhuyan were among those present on the occasion.
