The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 3 Corps, Lieutenant General Gopal R, on Sunday visited the Sainik School Punglwa in Nagaland.
During his visit to the Sainik School Punglwa, Gt Gen Gopal R interacted with the staff members and cadets of the school and advised them to become responsible citizens with great military values.
Informing this on his Twitter handle, the Meghalaya-based defence PRO tweeted on Sunday, “Lt Gen Gopal R, AVSM, SM, GOC, 3 Corps visits Sainik School, Punglwa, Nagaland.”
The defence PRO also tweeted: “He interacted with staff and cadets of school and advised them to become responsible citizens with great military values.”
It may be mentioned that Lt Gen Gopal R took over the charge of the 3 Corps on January 9, 2018.
The 3 Corps or Spear Corps is one of the largest and operationally most active Corps of the Indian Army.
Lt Gen Gopal R, who was an Infantry Officer from the 8th Gorkha Rifles of the Indian Army, took over the command of Spear Corps from Lt Gen Anil Chauhan.
The Sainik School Punglwa is located in Peren district of Nagaland.
Established in 2007, the school has boarding facilities for the students. The boys’ school has grades from 6th to 12th.
Affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the Sainik School, which was established by the Indian Government, is part of the Sainik School network.
The school prepares its students for entry into the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, Pune.
The school is administered by the Sainik Schools Society, under the supervision of the Indian Ministry of Defence.
The Chief of Staff, 3 Corps is the chairman of the school’s Local Board of Administration.
Along with the rest of the country, Sainik School, Punglwa also celebrated the Teachers’ Day on September 5 where teachers were honoured and appreciated for their unflinching effort towards education and all-round development of cadets.
According to reports, as per the school traditions, the School Captain took over the duty as acting Principal and other appointments took charge as administrative officer and vice principal respectively.
On the other hand, the senior cadets dressed up as teachers and took classes for the first three periods.
