Master of Business Administration in Business Analytics is a two-year full-time program offered by Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore. The programme is designed to provide the students with the tools and techniques for becoming an expert in this high-demand and evolving field. The students are taught to use analytical tools to identify patterns, define business and social challenges, develop business strategies, gain insights and make sound management decisions.
Domestic students can apply for the program through CAT which is conducted by the IIMs every year in November at various centres across the country. A number of parameters are considered before granting admissions which includes performance in high school, graduation scores along with the CAT scores. The section-wise score in CAT is also considered during the selection process.
Candidates shortlisted as per the CAT score have to go through the Written Ability Test as well as a Personal Interview. They have to provide 2 letters of personal or professional recommendation. However, the final selection is based on CAT performance, performance in Writing Ability Test, Interview and Scholastic Achievement. The composite score which is calculated after judging the multiple criteria is used for selecting candidates at the final stage.
A good CAT score can increase the chances of getting admission to IIM Bangalore. The CAT percentile score for shortlisting of candidates has been reduced by 5 points for 2020 admissions at IIM Bangalore. CAT 2019 result will be declared January 6, 2019. The announcement of shortlisted candidates is due for January 10, 2020 while the final round selection is scheduled to start from the last week of January 2020. The final admission offer will be made in the 3rd week of April 2020 and the students will have to confirm their acceptance by the 2nd week of May 2020.
In order to be eligible for admission, the minimum score in undergraduate degree scored by the applicant should be 50% or an equivalent CGPA and 45% for candidates belonging to ST/ SC/ PwD categories.
IIM Bangalore MBA in Business Analytics Admission Process
Step 1: Appearing for CAT 2019 exam and scoring the minimum required sectional as well as an overall score.
Step 2: A list of shortlisted candidates is released on the basis of CAT score, academic excellence and they are called for a Written Ability Test (WAT) and a Personal Interview (PI).
Step 3: Students are offered admission on the basis of WAT and PI rounds to the successful candidates.
Step 4: All those students who accept the final offer are admitted to the college.
Total fee that a candidate has to pay for pursuing MBA in Business Analytics from IIM Bangalore is 21 Lacs. Candidates have to deposit INR 15,000 as caution money.
The program is taught by industry-focused faculty and the students complete the core business courses which are the same as all other MBA courses with a choice of elective courses. Decision making, prescriptive analysis, predictive analysis and data analysis are covered by Business Analytics stream.
MBA in Business Analytics – Course Structure
MBA in Business Analytics offers two types of courses i.e. “Core” and “Elective”. Core courses are compulsory in both first and second year. Elective courses are offered only in the second year. Students can choose the courses as per their preference. The course is delivered in various formats like lectures, classroom discussions, industry interactions, case studies, individual and group projects, term papers, role plays, dissertations, business games, films and various experiential learning methods.
First-Year Course
In the first year of MBA in Business Analytics, basic concepts are focused. The areas of Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Organization Design, Human Resources Management, Decision Sciences, and Operations Management through Core courses, and Core Analytics courses such as Applied Probability and Statistical Models, Introduction to Computing, Time-Series and Forecasting Techniques, Machine Learning and Big Data Analytics is covered. First-year is divided into three terms the core courses offered in the first year is tabulated below:

Second Year Course

Summer Internship
There is also a summer internship program which will be held in between the end of first year and beginning of the second year. Students have to go through the summer internship program in an analytical firm. The internship is not mandatory for students who have work experience prior to the enrollment of the program.
