After changes of official schedule twice in the months of November and December last year, ‘Gunotsav’, the festival for quality assessment of the academic as well as physical status of the primary standard government schools got underway in Darrang district on Wednesday along with other twelve districts of Assam.
In its third phase, the programme will cover a total of 99,490 students of Class II to VIII in 1280 primary schools of the district.
The programme has earned tremendous response from all sections of the society including students, teachers, guardians etc with the participation of average 95 per cent students on the first day against the speculation of a low turnout due to successive changes of the schedule .
This was disclosed by Deputy Commissioner of Darrang, Ashok Kr Barman while addressing media on Wednesday afternoon at his office chamber in presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner in charge of District Coordinator SSA, Kalpana Deka and Inspector of Schools who is also in-charge District Elementary Education Officer (DEEO), Nagen Boro among others.
Speaking on the occasion ADC , Kalpana Deka disclosed that a total of 517 numbers of government officials, college teachers from Kamrup Metro, Rural and Udalguri districts besides the home district of Darrang have been engaged as external evaluators in the district for this four-day long programme.
Apart from these external evaluators few officials which included senior IAS , IPS and IFS officers of the State Government including Rajesh Prashad , Madan Ch Deka , Binod Kumar , AM Singh , Hirdes Mishra and Nitul Gogoi, besides all the MLAs of the district have also been given the special responsibility of external evaluators.
