Guwahati: A girl from Bongaigaon who was raped and murdered a couple of days after her Class X exams, on Friday secured first division as the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) announced the results of the HSLC.

The girl was among the 1,05,873 students who secured a first division.

The girl went missing on March 5 and the parents lodged a complaint. Sadly after three days, her lifeless body was found near New Bongaigaon Railway Market on the night of March 8.

The criminal not only ended the bright girl’s life but also ended a thousand dreams that she might have cherished to accomplish in her life.

The girl’s death had resulted in a wave of protests across the vicinity, with the police forced to put up barricades in parts of Bongaigaon town.

Later investigations led to the arrest of a youth who had allegedly abducted the girl, held her captive and raped her, along with his friends.
