Protest against CAB at Pathsala

Like students Cotton University and Dibrugarh University, who have raised voice against the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), the students of Assam’s Bhattadev University, Bajali also took to the street against the bill.

The students of Bhattadev University registered their protest against CAB in association with the Pathsala Anchalik Students’ Union.

A large number of students lied down on the road in front of the university gate to register their strong protest against the CAB.

They shouted slogans against the CAB and urged the BJP-led central government not to implement the bill.

Chinmoy Lahkar, vice president of the Pathsala Anchalik Students’ Union said they have put restriction in the entry of the ministers of the present government including the ministers from the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), which has given support to the Centre regarding CAB for securing their positions.

They also informed they would never accept the CAB at any cost.

Arnab Barman, general secretary of the Bhattdev University Students’ Union, also spoke strongly against the CAB.

He said the bill would never be accepted by the students of the university.

The protesters also staged a demonstration against the CAB.

The protestors holding placards shouted slogans against the bill, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, both the BJP-led central and state governments.

The students also burnt the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
