The university also offers one-year postgraduate diploma course in computer application.

The university would do away with the traditional black gown and cap and the students will don mekhela sador during the convocation.

Goswami said out of those, who have passed out from the university, 38 have cleared NET/SLET and more than 100 have already got jobs in government or semi-government organisations.

“Others have started their own private businesses especially those who have passed out from the fashion design department of the university,” the Vice Chancellor said.

The VC said while the infrastructure of the university has been improved at a slow pace, much has been left to do as the university is yet to get an academic block.

Regarding the ad hoc and contractual appointment of teachers, there are no teachers who have been regularised till date, Goswami lamented.

She added that 52 assistant professors have been appointed while there is a need of 105 in total for the 15 departments, especially of the rank of professors and associate professors.

Out of the seven posts, sanctioned by the government in 2018, only the posts of Vice Chancellor and the registrar have been filled.

Goswami said the process of appointing a finance officer and controller of examinations is on with applications having been received.
