The secretary stressed that every grant is linked to timely delivery and that quality of construction should be of the highest order so that students can avail the benefits of infrastructures that the Central and state governments provide.

Earlier, while welcoming the team to RGU campus, vice-chancellor in-charge Amitava Mitra shared with the visiting team various academic, research and outreach programmes that the university has been undertaking.

He said that with the RGU being ranked among the top 100 universities in the country, the varsity has also prepared a long-term vision document for its expansion, with additional seven new departments and four centres in the offing.

“While we have sought funds from the higher education financing agency for assisting the university in its expansion, we also need the cooperation and support of the DoNER and North Eastern Council (NEC) so that RGU can deliver in its mandate to the state,” he said.

RGU registrar Tomo Riba also spoke during the interaction.

The DoNER secretary was accompanied by his joint secretaries JK Sinha and Saurabh Endley and a team of officials from the state government.
