Assam is gearing up to host its first global investor’s summit in February. This event will showcase Assam’s manufacturing and geostrategic potential to domestic and foreign investors. The Advantage Assam: Global Investors Summit 2018 will be held on February 3-4

The summit will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and industrialists like Ratan Tata, Mukesh Ambani are set to attend the summit.

The Advantage Assam: Global Investors Summit will highlight Assam’s core competencies in different sectors and policy initiatives taken by the state government. Also the summit hopes to showcase export-oriented manufacturing opportunities to growing economies like ASEAN and South East Asian countries.

Sonowal said the prime minister’s special focus for the development of the northeast and his multiple initiatives for the region will be the basis for the success of the summit.

Assam has identified a number of focus sectors like agriculture and food processing, organic cultivation and bamboo, handloom, textile and handicrafts, inland water transport, port township and river front development and logistics.

Other focus areas include information technology and information technology enabled services, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, plastics and petrochemicals, power, tourism, hospitality and wellness, petroleum and natural gas and civil aviation.

Roadshows are being held at various domestic and international locations as a precursor to the main event. The places where the roadshows will be held are Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Toronto, San francisco, New York, Tokyo, Seoul and Singapore. They have already generated positive reviews from the investors.

Around 2,000 industry leaders and representatives from India and abroad are set to attend. The chief minister has had one-to-one meetings with top industrialists, including Tata, Ambani, Adi Godrej, Kishore Biyani, Gautam Singhania, Harsh Mariwala and Subhash Chandra.
