Modi pointed out that in the past decade, six major bridges have been constructed over the Brahmaputra, compared to only three in the preceding sixty years.

Dhemaji: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that Assam has witnessed remarkable progress in infrastructure and surface connectivity over the last two decades.

Addressing a large public gathering at Gogamukh Chetiya Gaon field in Dhemaji district, Modi said the enthusiasm among citizens clearly reflected their support for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for continued growth and stability.

Modi reiterated that this election would shape the vision of a developed India. He appealed to citizens to vote for BJP candidates to form the state government for a third consecutive term.

Modi said, “This time election is to be made, Viksit Bharat and BJP will form the government again in Assam and make a hat-trick,” and urged party workers to intensify the poll campaign for the upcoming assembly elections scheduled on April 9.

Terming the BJPโ€™s Sankalp Patra as a โ€œmangal patraโ€ for the people of Assam, Modi assured that Rs 5 lakh crore would be allocated for uninterrupted development projects in the state.

During his address, Modi outlined key welfare measures promised in the BJP manifesto for the assembly polls, saying that over 15 lakh poor families in the state would benefit from the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and assuring that every family yet to receive a pucca house would be covered under the scheme.

He added that his government aims to ensure “free education from KG to PG” for poor families, which is a significant step towards educational upliftment.

Focusing on women-centric welfare initiatives, the Prime Minister said that nearly 3 lakh women in the state have already become “Lakhpati Baideo” through state government schemes and announced that the NDA aims to expand the schemeโ€™s benefits to 40 lakh women in the coming years. He also mentioned that the Orunodoi scheme would be further enhanced to ensure wider coverage.

Modi pointed out that in the past decade, six major bridges have been constructed over the Brahmaputra, compared to only three in the preceding sixty years.

He also referenced the semiconductor project worth Rs 27,000 crore at Jagirod, the ICAR-run Agriculture Research Institute, and other engineering and medical institutes established in the state.

Modi was accompanied by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, state BJP leaders, and contesting candidates from Dhemaji and Lakhimpur districts.
