The death toll in Assam due to Japanese Encephalitis has been increasing with each passing day with six persons losing their lives due to the disease on Monday.
Sixteen persons died due to Acute Encephalitis and Japanese Encephalitis on Monday.

Out of the total 16 persons, ten died due to Acute Encephalitis and six due to Japanese Encephalitis.
The death toll due to both of these diseases has now reached 1409.
The deaths due to Japanese Encephalitis have been reported from the districts of Darrang, Lakhimpur, Jorhat, Barpeta, Hailakandi and Tinsukia.
With so many deaths due to Japanese Encephalitis being reported from many parts of the State on a daily basis, it has been seen that the state government has not yet been able to tackle the problem.
It may be mentioned that state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma , by announcing no leave for doctors, nurses and paramedics in Assam due to outbreak of Japanese Encephalitis(JE), was seen roaming on the streets of Manchester (UK) along with his friends ahead of CWC semi finals between India and New Zealand.
Moreover, the Japanese Encephalitis outbreak is also turning grim due to the worsening flood situation in the State.
As per the latest flood report of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), in Assam flood 2019, a total of 30 districts have been reeling under waters and over 42 lakh people have been affected.
