A joint team of Army and Assam Police apprehended one ULFA (I) linkman near Tangla in Central Assam’s Udalguri district.

Acting on a tip-off, the joint team of Army and police on Tuesday morning arrested Rabi Boro, from his residence at Gopchachuba near Tangla in Udalguri district.

Thirty-four year old Boro was working as an over-ground agent for the banned outfit.

He was reportedly involved in extortion on behalf of the ULFA (I), and was also taking active part in recruitment of young cadres.

A China made .22 mm pistol along with a magazine and two live rounds were also recovered from Boro’s possession.

Nirmal Ghosh, sub-divisional police officer of Bhergaon told Northeast Now that the Army had specific information against Boro.

Boro was produced before court by Tangla police on Wednesday.

Local people of the area also reportedly told the police that Boro has been working for the proscribed outfit as a linkman.
