To support the music movement and also to promote peace and harmony among the youngsters through music, the musician and music lovers in Manipur are all set to celebrate the World Music Day at different parts of the State on Friday evening.

A group of musicians and music lovers including Adama from Mizoram,Th Sanjeev, N Haraba of Fringes, sound engineer and drummer L Sunil of Fringes,popular drummer Nongmaithem Paras, Proprietor N Upendro of SSS (sister sound system), a well known sound system company in Imphal also made an announcement in this regard.

The idea of organizing the event is to create a platform for the musicians and music lovers to show their talents and also to educate the youngsters through music, they felt.

World Music Day is organized in Manipur for the eight times without any assistance from the government, they lamented. But everyone is extending support for successful organisation of the event this time too.

One of the main celebrations is scheduled to start from 4 pm at the Yaiskul Athletic Club ground also known as the Yaiskul range located on western side of Imphal riverbank at Moirangkhom in Imphal wherein the popular rock bands from the northeast will be performing.

The event is managed by the Imphal based NorthEast Brothers Entertainment Pvt Ltd.

The bands which are expected to perform during the day’s event are Adama & Sangtei Renza from Mizoram,Pulse Pundit,The Wishess,Battles,Illegals,Fringes,Megahertz,Red Devils,Embryonix,Penta Fusion,Dipwarani,Kaicho and many more from Manipur. Interestingly SSS will be providing the 30,000 watt of sound system for the celebration.

The World Music day is celebrated on every June 21 across 120 countries and 700 cities across the globe and it was originated from France in 1982.

The entry to the event in Manipur will be free for everyone giving an opportunity to celebrate the event together, according to the event management team.
