Kiran Shankar Bharati, popularly known as Bulu Rajkhowa breathed his last on Monday afternoon following a cardiac arrest.

He was 59.

A familiar face in the public life of North Lakhimpur in Lakhimpur district, Rajkhowa was a leading amateur theatre actor, cultural activist and a singer. He was associated with a number of socio-cultural organizations and was an active social worker.

In addition to his socio-cultural activities, Bulu Rajkhowa was a great cricketer.

He represented Lakhimpur district team in 1970s and 80s.

He was also a pioneer in long distance bus services from Lakhimpur to Guwahati from early 1980s and operated the Sylvan Dee transport company from North Lakhimpur.

Bulu Rajkhowa was cremated on Tuesday at Ahuchawulgaon Crematorium in North Lakhimpur today morning. He leaves behind his wife and a daughter.

Rajkhowa’s death has been widely mourned in North Lakhimpur.
