Immediately after assuming charge as the union minister of state for food processing, Rameswar Teli on Friday said he will give his best for the development in the sector.

Rameswar Teli is the two-time MP from the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency.

On Thursday, he took oath as a union minister in the second term of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi ministry at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.

On Friday Teli took charge as the union minister of state for food processing at the office of his ministry in Pancheel Bhawan, New Delhi.

Saying that the food processing unit needs more attention, union minister Teli said, “This sector needs much more attention. I believe under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi there will be an overall development.”

Union minister Teli won the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha seat defeating Congress’ Pawan Singh Ghatowar in the recently concluded Lok Sabha election.

Veteran Congress leader Pawan Singh Ghatowar, who also served as a union minister, continued to win the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha seat for five times.

The people from tea-rich Dibrugarh district of Assam were elated over the inclusion of Teli in the Modi ministry.

Wishing best wishes to Teli after he took oath as the union minister of state on Thursday, Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on his Twitter handle state:   “I join people of Assam in wishing best to the very bright Sri Rameshwar Teli as he joins the Union Council of Ministers.

“You represent aspiration and dreams of people of a #NewIndia. Congratulations. Do well and bring us laurles with your hard work,” added Sarma.

Teli, who has come from the tea community, said that tea sector too in Assam needs a serious look.

“I will also work for the development of tea sector and the people associated with this sector,” said Teli.
