In a significant case of solving a carlifting case, the Assam police was able to track down a two-member gang of carlifters and recover a car within record time of 57 minutes.
According to information, a car, owned by one Sumit Bajoria from Shillong, was hired by two persons in Shillong.
They approached towards Baihata in Kamrup (Rural) district, assaulted the driver of the car and lifted the vehicle.
The car owner, Bajoria, immediately approached Assam police through Twitter regarding the lifting of his car and he too continuously updated the police regarding the location of his car with the help of GPS.
The SM of Assam police coordinated with the Officer In-charge of Baihata Police Station of Kamrup Police and was able to recover the car within 57 minutes in Hollywwod style.

The two car lifters were also nabbed by the police.
Informing about the whole story on his Twitter handle on Thursday, Sumit Bajoria stated: “My story. The Assam Police also on its officila Twitter handle stated: “2 people hire a car from Shillong.
As they approach Baihata, they assault the driver and steal the car.
The owner approaches us on Twitter.

Meanwhile, the director general of police of Assam, Kula Saikia has congratulated the SM team of Assam police and the police team of Baihata PS for the success.
