Four candidates on Wednesday filed their nomination papers for the Kokrajhar parliamentary seat.

According to information, Sabda Ram Rabha of the Indian National Congress (INC), Urkhaw Gwra Brahma of United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), Charan Iswary of Purvanchal Janata Party–Secular (PJP-S) and Kamala Kanta Daimary of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) filed their nominations for the 17th Lok Sabha elections in Kokrajhar on Wednesday.

So far a total of 8 candidates have filed their nominations till 3 PM on Wednesday.

Thursday (April 4, 2019) is the last date of filing nomination papers for the 3rd phase of parliamentary polls.

Kokrajhar will go to Lok Sabha polls on April 23, 2019.

UPPL candidate Urkhaw Gwra Brahma carried out a massive rally from New flyover before filing his nomination papers.

Urkha Gwra Brahma’s rally was joined by over 80,000 supporters and leaders from various organizations like the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) president Pramod Boro and leaders of its movement group like the National Democratic Front of Boroland – Progressive (NDFB-P) and People’s Joint Action Committee for Boroland Movement (PJACBM) and others.

On the other hand, Sabda Ram Rabha of the Indian National Congress (INC) was accompanied by former Assam minister Prithibi Majhi, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) secretary Biwajit Ray and over 3,000 supporters.

The four candidates filed their nomination papers before the returning officer for 5-Kokrajhar (ST) Parliamentary constituency and deputy commissioner Partha Pratim Mazumdar.
