The Konyaks of Nagaland are all set to attempt a Guinness World Records for the ‘Largest Traditional Konyak Dance’ at 11 am on April 5 next at the Local Ground of Mon town.
The Konyak dance will be a part of the annual Aoleang Monyu cum Mini-Hornbill Festival.
In a statement issued to the media on Monday, Konyak Union president, Manlip Konyak stated that the third day of the festival would be focused on Konyak women, during which, a troupe of about 5000 Konyak women would dance to the ceremonial song invoking blessings on the tribe and the festival in traditional attire for at least five minutes.
The mega event is being organized by Konyak Union (KU) in coordination with Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK) and Konyak Students Union (KSU) with an aim to preserve the cultural heritage of the people and also to promote tourism.
