In the coming general election, BJP along with the NEDA partners will win at least 20 out the total 25 seats in the north-eastern region, said BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav in Agartala on Wednesday.
“Not less than 20 out of 25 seats, BJP is going to win in the Northeast. When I say BJP it is along with our NEDA partners and we shall win more than 20 seats. This is more than our previous number of seats in the region,” said Ram Madhav after completion of BJP party organizational meeting on working out poll strategy.
On the issue of seat sharing with BJP’s local alliance IPFT and which has demanded at least the East Tripura ST reserved seat, Ram Madhav said, “BJP is filling its candidate for both the seats of Tripura and discussions are on it. BJP shall ask for support of the IPFT in the East seat also. We shall have discussions today.”
Reacting to the CPI-M allegation that democracy has been murdered in Tripura after the BJP-IPFT came to power a year back, the BJP leader said, “democracy has been saved in the last one year by our government.”
On the issue of completing the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly election along with the general election, the BJP national general secretary said, “No, the decision of when to hold Assembly election will be taken by the Election Commission based on the security arrangement and other requirements. Assembly elections require much wider security arrangements, I am sure that they will look after it and decide the timing.
