Biren Singha, eminent sculptor and artist of repute of Assam appreciating the exhibition of photographs and wood carving by senior photo-artist Mrinal Kanti Chakraborty on Saturday.

SIngha also inaugurated the exhibition as chief guest at the Gauhati Artists’ Guild on Saturday.

The exhibition will remain open from 12 noon to 7:30 pm till March 12.

Dr Delip Kumar Kalita, Director of Anundoram Borooah Institute of Language, Art & Culture, Assam (ABILAC) along with other dignitaries also graced the exhibition which is showcasing the creations of the noted artist.

This is Chakraborty’s third solo exhibition on photography and wood carving (sculpture) at Gauhati Artists’ Guild premises in Chandmari of the city.

The inaugural programme of the exhibition was held at 5:30 pm on Saturday.

The Gauhati Artists’ Guild, which was initiated in 1976 by a group of like-minded creative people, is among the forerunners in the field of art & culture in Northeast India.

The institution has emerged as a leading premier platform to promote art of Northeast India to the entire world.
