A Community Health Centre (CHC) was inaugurated at Sekmai in Manipur’s Imphal West district on Wednesday. State Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar attended the inaugural function along with Sekmai MLA Heikham Dingo Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, Health Minister Jayantakumar Singh said the heath sector is most essential for human and other beings on this earth. Stating that with the changing of the nature there have been many new diseases which may be known or unknown to us, he said, adding, the Health Department need to be fully prepared and act accordingly to meet this new challenge.
Informing that the health facilities set by the government for the people should reach to the needy ones, he said the health staffs including doctors, nurses, paramedical staffs and ASHA workers should maintain professional ethics.
Assuring a hand pump for water supply facility of the hospital, he further appealed the people of Sekmai to cooperate with the government in regard of new health initiatives and urged the people to keep the hospital and its surroundings neat and clean.
In his presidential speech, Sekmai MLA Dingo said that the newly inaugurated CHC now belongs to the people of Sekmai. The maintenance of the CHC is the responsibility of the people Sekmai. The present facility will benefit the people in and around Sekmai, he said.
He also extended his warm regards to the Health Minister for upgrading Public Health Centre Sekmai to CHC status.
Director Dr S Manikanta Singh of National Health Mission, Manipur and Additional Director Health Dr Shyamsundar Singh besides other Health Department staff, doctors and staff of CHC Sekmai and others also attended the inaugural function.
