The first accident took place on Wednesday on the approach road to the Bogibeel Bridge which was inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday.
Two private cars on Wednesday morning collided on the approach road to Bogibeel bridge, the longest rail-road bridge in the country. According to eye witnesses both the private cars coming from two different directions were could not control the speed and collided. No one was injured in the accident.
Bogibeel bridge spanning 4.94 km over the River Brahmaputra connects Dibrugarh on the south bank with Dhemaji district on the north bank.
After the opening of the bridge on Tuesday everybody seemed enthusiastic to experience a drive on the bridge, which is an engineering marvel and termed lifeline for people of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
The bridge connects upper Assam with 15 districts of eastern Arunachal Pradesh. An unrelenting flow of vehicular was today witnessed as people were excited to drive on the just inaugurated bridge. It was natural as the bridge finally came into being the construction work progressed at the snail’s pace since 2002 while the foundation stone was laid way back in 1997.
Addressing the inauguration of the Bridge on Tuesday, Arunachal Pradesh chief minister, Pema Khandu stated that bridge would change the life of lakhs of people from 15 eastern Arunachal Pradesh districts for the better.
