Preparations by Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR)  and Dheamji district administration are complete for the much-awaited inauguration of  rail-cum-road Bogibeel Bridge connecting Dhemaji and Dibrugarh over the Brahmaputra.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate the bridge to the nation, the longest one of this type in India on Tuesday afternoon on the northern bank of the river in Kareng Chapori in Dhemaji district.

The Prime Minister will arrive in Kareng Chapori to participate in the inaugural ceremony following flagging off the railway service from the southern bank of the river at Bogibeel in Dibrugarh on Christmas Day.

Meanwhile, the entire Kareng Chapori area, the venue of the inaugural function is full of large presence of security personnel of various central and state agencies, police and officials  belonging to Dhemaji and other neighbouring districts and those from Arunachal Pradesh, central government officials and high ranking officials from the police.

Talking to Northeast Now, Dhemaji Deputy Commissioner Roshni Aparanji Korati said that proper roadmaps were prepared for the smooth entry and exit of people and vehicles in the venue along with parking facilities.

A pandal for 50,000 capacity had been erected on the venue site along with other facilities, DC Korati said. She also added that 2500 police personnel had been deployed in Kareng Chapori area for the inaugural function of Bogibeel Bridge.

Additional approaches and roads are being constructed to the venue in a war footing move for that grand opening ceremony. A helipad is also made in the venue site by the organizers.

The inaugural ceremony of Bogibeel Bridge will also be attended by Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain; Minister for State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju; DoNER Minister Jitendra Singh; Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi.

The Chief Ministers of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal and of Arunachal Pradesh Pema Khandu will also attend the function.
