Imphal: The NSCN/GPRN officially refuted allegations levelled by the ZUF (Jenchui) faction regarding a purported joint military operation in the region defined as Southern Nagaland and Naga-inhabited areas in neighbouring Manipur.
The denial followed a formal press release issued by the group’s Ministry of Information and Publicity on November 5. Officials of the organisation described the claims as imaginary, baseless and unfounded.
The public rebuttal addressed allegations that had been circulating across various social media platforms and regional media outlets.
The geographic terminology used in the official statement is significant. The phrase Southern Nagaland refers to a territory encompassing several Naga-dominated districts in neighbouring Manipur, including Senapati, Tamenglong, Ukhrul, Noney and Kamjong.
The group traditionally includes these areas in its broader ideological vision of a unified Naga homeland.
The press release did not identify any specific villages or administrative areas in Manipur. However, the use of the regional term places the current territorial dispute within the wider geography claimed by the organisation.
Spokespersons said that the reasons behind the alleged fabrication of a joint military operation were known only to the leadership of the ZUF (Jenchui) faction.
The group also warned that if the claims were intended to conceal any future hostile intentions, it was prepared to face any security situation. Its leadership said its forces would retaliate if provoked by rival actions.
The statement concluded with criticism of the rival faction’s ideological position. The organisation said it did not share the narrow outlook of the ZUF (Jenchui) and instead prioritised a broader, long-term political strategy.
Its representatives reiterated their desire for brotherly relations among regional groups while ruling out ties with entities they believe have hidden agendas.
The leadership also reaffirmed its commitment to unity among factions, provided such alliances did not compromise its core political aspirations.
