Guwahati-based poet Saikh Md Sabah Al-Ahmed’s collection of ten English poems have been selected for translation into Italian.
The poems will be translated by Giorgio Moio, a poet and writer hailing from Naples, Italy.
According to a report in the Hindu, The poems will be published in the January 2019 issue of Frequenze Poetiche, a popular Italian poetry magazine comprising works of various poets across the globe.
Moio was fascinated by Al-Ahmed’s poems after Arunav Barua, another Guwahati-based poet emailed him the collection.
Barua was the first from Asia whose poems were translated into Italian.
Al-Ahmed a columnist and lyricist, teaches English and Social Science at Don Bosco School, Panbazar, Guwahati. He is also the public relations officer of the school.
He has authored three books – ‘Tranquil Musings – Collected Poems’, ‘Contemporary Chronicles – Polity, Society & Culture’and ‘Past of the Present – A Historical Quest’ .
‘Tranquil Musings – Collected Poems’, an anthology of poems was reviewed by renowned litterateur Mamoni Raisom Goswami and released at the Asia International Literary Festival in December 2010.
His forthcoming book, ‘The Crimson Enchantress’ is the biography of Momoni Raisom Goswami.
