With an aim to increase dedication of the forest personnel, Aaranyak, an environmental organization, handed over 20 walkie talkie sets and two wireless base stations to Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary on Friday.
Talking to Northeast Now, Aaranyak Chief Executive Officer Bibhab Talukdar said, “Keeping in view the equipments scarcity in the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, we have donated the essential equipments today. As you know, Aaranyak is committed to working for preservation of nature and its resources along with wildlife and has been contributing towards that.”
“It is our pleasure to inform you that we have tried to fulfill their necessity at least to some extent,” Talukdar said.
Talukdar also informed that the organization had donated a speedboat to Orang National Park on October 15 last to combat poachers who use waterways to enter.
Divisional Forest Officer Guwahati Wildlife division Pradipta Baruah said, “Fund is too low to develop the infrastructure on our own. A long pending scarcity has ended with receiving the equipments today. This kind of support will definitely boost energy of the staff to work with more dedication for the protection of the animals in the sanctuary.”
Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary range officer Manas Bhattacharya was also present in the programme. Bibhab Talukdar also informed that the equipments are worth Rs three lakhs.
