The Gunotsav II Phase of 2018, a school assessment programme by the Assam Government, began on Wednesday in Dhubri district with a four-day programme and will conclude on Saturday. In total, 2,136 schools comprising six education blocks – Gauripur,Golakganj, South Salmara, Agomoni, Bilasipara and Chapor, respectively, are being covered in Dhubri district of Assam.
The assessment is held for students studying in Grade II to Grade IX. A total of 960 officials from four districts – Dhubri, Kokrajhar, Bongaigoan and South Salmara – are taking part in the assessment programme as external evaluators.
Anant Lal Gyani, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Dhubri, said that on the first day of the programme as a part of Gunotsav, an internal evaluation was done by the school teachers while the external evaluator will take a look at the infrastructure as well as the cleanliness aspect of the different schools in the next three days.
Gyani was speaking during a Press meet held for the purpose at the conference hall of Dhubri Circuit House on Wednesday. S Jadav, Inspector of Schools, Dhubri, who was also present during the Press meet, said that the main objective behind organising Gunotsav is to improve the quality of education through four basic parameters like scholastic, co-scholastic, infrastructure development and active participation of community and based on these four broad parameters, grading is given to each and every school such as A +, A, B, C and D.
A total of 2,31,098 students (Lower Primary level – 1,40,430,Upper Primary Level – 68,472 and Class IX – 22,196) will be covered in Gunotsav II Phase of 2018. During the first phase of Gunotsav held in Dhubri district in 2017, only 379 schools out of a total of 2,242 schools in Dhubri district have managed to secure the top A+ grade. While 993 schools secured A grade, 639 got B, 195 got C and 36 schools got D grade as Dhubri finished fourth out of the 13 districts where the assessment was held, as informed by Jadav.
