The Indian High Commissioner in Bangladesh, Harsh Vardhan Shringla, offered prayers at the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) temple in Coxโ€™s Bazar of Bangladesh on Sunday.

Informing about this, the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh on its official Twitter account on Sunday stated: โ€œHigh Commissioner Harsh Vardhan Shringla offered prayers at the ISKCON temple at Coxโ€™s Bazar.โ€

At a time when Indiaโ€™s BJP-led NDA Government has been trying to give shelter to the Hindu Bangladeshis, who fled their country allegedly due to religious persecution, the Indian High Commissioner in Bangladesh Shringlaโ€™s visit to the temple and offering of prayers in a โ€˜peacefulโ€™ environment bears much significance.

Coxโ€™s Bazar, which is a town on the southeast coast of Bangladesh, is known for its very long, sandy beachfront, stretching from the sea beach in the north to Kolatoli Beach in the south.

Coxโ€™s Bazar, situated alongside the beach of the Bay of Bengal, is the prime beach and tourist town in Bangladesh.

In a bid to make the most out of its 7,500 km-long coastline, India is also planning to begin cruise service to connect Chennai to Coxโ€™s Bazar.

The Indian Government is also hopeful of attracting private players to operate on the route.

Pravir Pandey, chairman, Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) recently told a section of the media:  โ€œWe will soon start the India-Bangladesh coastal cruise line between Chennai and Coxโ€™s Bazar.โ€
