In district headquarter North Lakhimpur there will be Durga Puja mandaps in 16 different places.

Many new puja mandaps are coming up this year along with old venues like Biswa Cinema, where the Bengali Association has been organizing Durga Puja since 1941, and in Panchanan Devalaya, Daily Bazar, Police Reserve etc.

In Laluk, Durga Puja will be celebrated in 11 places including the Pujabari venue. In Dhakuwakhona Durga Puja celebrations are organized in five places and in Ghilamora there will be four places where Durga Puja is being organized.

The Sri Sri Maa Manipuri Thaan in Ghilamora is also organizing Durga puja like previous years.

Similar puja celebrations are also organized in Bihpuria, Narayanpur, Dholpur, Shimaluguri, Harmutty, Nowboicha, Dolahaat, Bogeenadi, Chawul Dhowa and other places of Lakhimpur district.

Meanwhile, the consumerism surrounding the Durga Puja celebrations has engulfed the entire district with large crowds thronging the shopping malls, garment stores and other bazaars in the last couple of days in North Lakhimpur.

Eateries with special puja delicacies are arranged in the town. Though the Lakhimpur district administration has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC in the town unimaginable traffic has ruined the festive mood in the district.
