Assam Inland Water Transport Development Society (AIWTDS), a registered society was formed as an apex autonomous body under the Transport Department of the Government of Assam for managing, coordinating and monitoring the proposed project for development of Inland Water Transport system in the State.
Assam Inland Water Transport Development Society (AIWTDS) is at project preparatory stage of the Assam Inland Water Transport Project with financial assistance from World Bank through government of India.
As a part of the project preparatory stage, integrated strategic development plan (ISDP) and environmental impact assessment and social impact assessment (EIA/ SIA) is under process.
The ISDP consultant submitted draft project feasibility report for some important ghats/terminals along with transport strategy up to 2035. The EIA/ SIA consultant has submitted the screening and scoping report of its on-going EIA/ SIA studies in the project area.
In this context, Assam Inland Water Transport Development Society (AIWTDS) in collaboration with EIA/ SIA & ISDP Consultant is organizing a workshop on Monday at 10 am at its office premises at Directorate of Inland Water Transport situated in Ulubari of Guwahati to get an overview of findings by both the consultants.
Assam Inland Water Transport Development Society (AIWTDS) has requested all the stakeholders of the Assam Inland Water Transport System to attend the workshop and put their recommendation and suggestion based on the overview to be presented by the ISDP and EIA/ SIA consultant.
Bharat Bhusan Dev Choudhury, Director, Inland Water Transport, Assam and additional state project director, Assam Inland Water Transport Development Society will inaugurate the workshop.
