Dibrugarh: Dibrugarh’s Graham Bazar Durga Puja Committee has created a tea garden-themed pandal using bamboo and natural tea bushes, highlighting Assam’s tea heritage and the lives of its tea garden communities.
The pandal, built entirely with eco-friendly materials, seeks to showcase the customs and traditions of tea garden communities while promoting a plastic-free environment.
Manohari Tea Estate has associated itself with the initiative by serving 5,000 cups of Assam tea daily during the Durga Puja celebrations.
Jitendra Srivastav, a member of the puja committee, said the theme was inspired by Assam tea and its 200-year-old legacy.
“We have used only eco-friendly materials, and our puja pandal is attracting a huge crowd. Our theme is based on Assam tea and its 200-year-old legacy. Through this initiative, we are trying to showcase the rich heritage of Assam tea,” he said.
The initiative highlights the cultural and historical significance of Assam’s tea industry and the contribution of tea garden communities to the state’s heritage.
