Dibrugarh: The Masterpara Durga Puja Committee in Dibrugarh has chosen “A Ray of Hope Amidst the Flood” as the theme for this year’s Durga Puja, focusing on the damage caused by floods in Assam, particularly in Sivasagar and Charaideo districts.
The Masterpara Durga Puja is one of Dibrugarh’s prominent celebrations and attracts large crowds every year.
Through this year’s theme, the committee aims to depict the destruction caused by the floods and the efforts of rescue teams to save lives.
The committee president said the puja would portray the impact of the floods and the efforts of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and other rescue teams to evacuate people stranded in floodwaters.
“This year, our theme is ‘A Ray of Hope Amidst the Flood’. We will showcase the destructive floods in Assam that have caused widespread devastation. However, our NDRF personnel and rescue teams have done a great job in rescuing numerous people from the floodwaters,” the president said.
The committee said the theme would convey a message of hope, resilience and solidarity while recognising the efforts of rescue personnel and the determination of flood-affected communities.
