Mridul Ram Kalita and Kamal Medhi of Guwahati won the 2nd Pulin Das Memorial Open Prize Money Sports Quiz Competition 2018, organised by the Guwahati Lawn Tennis Association (GLTA) held at Kumar Bhaskar Natya Mandir, Guwahati on Tuesday.
Bishwajeet Sarma and Raktim Ranjan Baishya Guwahati begged the second prize while Dipjyoti Deka and Chandan Duwarah duo won the third prize respectively.

The competition was conducted by well-known quiz masters Dipankar Koushik and Dilip Kumar Sarma. Sayantan Saikia compared with wit and aplomb.
The final round was an eight-round affair comprising three dry rounds, two video rounds, one clue round and three buzzer rounds respectively.
In all, 37 teams participated in the first stage of the competition held as preliminary screening round from where six teams were selected for final round.
In the closing function, Nabajyoti Kalita, general secretary, Guwahati Lawn Tennis Association (GLTA) welcomed the gathering of distinguishes guests. RK Sarma, advisor, University of Science and Technology (USTM), Meghalaya, senior sports journalist Pabitra Gogoi, sports enthusiast and organiser Bishnuram Nunisha, Kalyan Kumar Das, president, GLTA were felicitated.
“RK Sarma, Pabitra Gogoi, Bishnuram Nunisha, Ashok Das, Pronoy Bordoloi, Anirbaan Das distributed the prizes to all prize winners. The top three winning teams were presented cash awards of Rs. 10,000, Rs. 7,000 and Rs 5,000 along with trophies respectively,” informed Kalyan K Das, president, Guwahati Lawn Tennis Association (GLTA).
The fourth, fifth and sixth teams were also awarded with cash prize of Rs 1,000.
The audience also won a lot of varied gifts while answering quiz master’s questions.
Distinguished guests in their speeches remarked that this type of competition helps in the development of mental, health and competitive spirit of the competitors. They also lauded the efforts of the organisers for organising this premier quizzing event successfully.
Earlier in the inaugural function, floral tribute was given to the eminent sports organiser late Pulin Das by all the sports enthusiasts present on the occasion.
The competition was declared open by Kalyan Kumar Das, president, GLTA by lighting the traditional lamp amidst an august gathering.
