Guwahati: The body of 47-year-old Mahesh Brahma, who was reportedly associated with BTC Chief Executive Member Hagrama Mohilary as his personal assistant, was recovered hanging from a newly constructed railway flyover at Khargaon in Kokrajhar, prompting police to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.

Brahma’s body was found suspended by a rope from the flyover, following which police personnel and a magistrate reached the spot. The body was subsequently recovered and sent for post-mortem examination as authorities began investigating whether the death was a case of suicide or involved foul play.

The circumstances have raised questions among local residents and Brahma’s family, with some suspecting that he may have been killed and his body later hung from the flyover. His family members have also maintained that he did not die by suicide.

BTC Executive Member Prakash Basumatary visited the site following the incident and urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation at the spot to determine what led to Brahma’s death.

Police are examining physical evidence and other circumstances surrounding the incident. The post-mortem examination is expected to provide further clues about the cause and manner of death.

Brahma was reportedly associated with the cultural sector and was known to those acquainted with him as a quiet and gentle person. His death has caused shock and concern in Kokrajhar.

The investigation remains underway, and the exact circumstances and cause of Brahma’s death have yet to be established.
