Guwahati: Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief Hagrama Mohilary on Thursday visited flood-affected areas of Assam’s Sivasagar district, leading a 104-member relief team that distributed essential supplies to families affected by the recent floods.
Mohilary was accompanied by Assam MLA Arup Kumar Dey, while Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi received the delegation and joined them during the visit to the flood-hit localities.
The BTC team brought a large consignment of relief materials, including bedsheets, mosquito nets, hygiene kits and other essential items, which were distributed among families struggling with the prolonged flooding.
Speaking during the visit, Akhil Gogoi thanked Mohilary and the BTC team for extending support to the people of Sivasagar during the crisis.
“We are grateful to Hagrama Mohilary and his team for coming all the way from Kokrajhar with relief materials for flood-affected families. They have provided bedsheets, mosquito nets, hygiene products, and other essential supplies. As Sivasagar town remains inundated, this assistance will be of immense help to those affected,” Gogoi said.
He also appreciated the BTC Chief’s decision to personally visit the flood-hit areas rather than simply dispatching relief materials, describing the gesture as a strong expression of solidarity with the people affected by the disaster.
