Digboi: Three personnel from Tinsukia district have been awarded the Silver medal in the Assam Police DGP’s Commendation Medal 2026 for “outstanding meritorious work”.

The awardees are Dinesh Pratap Singh Rathore, IPS, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime), Tinsukia; Mrinmoy Das, APS, Additional Superintendent of Police (HQ), Tinsukia; and LNK/470 Pankaj Sonar of the 2nd Assam Police Battalion, Makum.

The commendations cover different aspects of policing in the district, including crime control, security-related duties and armed police operations.

Rathore had earlier served as SDPO, Margherita, where he was involved in action against anti-social elements and investigations into several cases in the Margherita belt.

Das has been associated with security and insurgency-related matters in the sensitive border areas of Tinsukia.

The official order, issued by Assam Police Headquarters on October 1 under the authority of DGP Harmeet Singh, IPS, states that the medals were awarded for “outstanding meritorious work”.

The seven-page order includes IPS and APS officers, inspectors, sub-inspectors and personnel from various ranks and formations across the Assam Police.

Tinsukia has policing responsibilities across areas affected by organised crime and insurgency-related security concerns, as well as locations adjoining Arunachal Pradesh. The district also includes major oil and industrial installations, coal and tea belts and key transport corridors.

The order directs the respective formations to make the necessary entries in the awardees’ service records and hand over the commendation notifications to them.
