Imphal: Special Gram Sabhas were held across Manipur’s Kakching district on October 2 to mark Gandhi Jayanti and launch the โReform Utsavโ and Peopleโs Plan Campaign (PPC) 2026-27 under the theme โSabki Yojana, Sabka Vikas.โ
The meetings brought together local residents and officials to prepare participatory and evidence-based Gram Panchayat Development Plans (GPDPs) for the 2027-28 financial year.
Under the Kakching Community Development (CD) Block, the sessions were held at Irengband, Pallel, Wabagai, Keirak, Hayel Hangoon, Maibam Uchiwa and Irong Chesaba Gram Panchayats (GPs).
The Langmeidong CD Block held sessions at Chairel, Langmeidong, Pangantabi, Serou, Wangoo, Sekmaijin, Arong Nongmaikhong, Hiyanglam, Mayeng Lamjao and Waikhong GPs.
Officials said the sessions included a review of local scores in the Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI) 2.0 to identify development gaps. Citizens were also informed about recent central government reforms under the Reform Utsav initiative.
The Gram Sabhas passed resolutions declaring their villages child-marriage-free. The declarations were supported by data from MSRLM Self-Help Groups and federations and will be included in the upcoming GPDPs.
Participants also discussed the Village Poverty Reduction Plan (VPRP), the Viksit Gram Panchayat Plan (VGPP) and solid waste management strategies.
Representatives from various line departments shared details of available public welfare schemes with the participants. Informational audio-visual materials were also screened during the meetings.
