An incident of horrific child abuse has taken place in which an 11-year-old child has been allegedly tortured by the daughter-in-law of a former Executive Member (EM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC).
According to information, Mitali Engtipi, daughter-in-law of former EM, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council,, Alice Engtipi, allegedly tortured an 11-year-old child.
“The incident took place on September 23. Mitali Engtipi, daughter-in-law of former KAAC EM Alice Engtipi, called the 11-year-old girl victim, her domestic help at her residence in Lorulangso, Diphu and poured hot water on her,” claimed sources, adding, “After pouring hot water she asked the child again to bring another jar of hot water and Miltali Engtipi poured it on her.”
“Showing utter cruelty, Mitali scolded the 11-year-old instead of giving her medical care,” sources added.
The case came to light only on September 27 when the child was already taken back home by Chandra Teron, the father of the child, who called the media at his Zirikindeng residence.
“Lunse Milik alias Bor Milik, who is an SDO in PWD, the elder son of former EM, Alice Engtipi, tried to hush up the matter by offering Rs 1.3 lakh,”claimed Chandra Teron. However, it is not known whether the money was handed over or not.
However, this is not the first instance of child abuse by the same Milik family. Fours years back, death of two children in the family created sensation, however that incident was also covered up.
The 11-year-old victim was allegedly fed with leftover stale food while she was staying at the residence of the Miliks.
She was kept there with the promise of sending her to school but she was not allowed to go to school often.
Karbi Anglong district is abounded with numerous social organisations but not a single organisation has raised their voice till now.
Former EM Alice Engtipi is the sister of Kharsing Engti, a powerful politician, Congressman and former HAD minister.
