Dibrugarh: The Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC), Chabua, under the Department of Community Medicine, Assam Medical College, has added a state-of-the-art diagnostic laboratory under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL).
The laboratory was inaugurated on Tuesday in the presence of senior officials, faculty members and staff of Assam Medical College and BCPL.
The Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent of Assam Medical College attended the programme as the Chief Guest, while Rohini Kt. Sarmah, General Manager (HR), BCPL, was the Guest of Honour.
The programme was attended by BCPL dignitaries, Gaurangie Gogoi, Head of the Department of Community Medicine, faculty members and staff of Assam Medical College, as well as Manashjyoti Kataky and staff of RHTC, Chabua.
Established in 1957 with the guidance of the Government of Assam, RHTC Chabua is one of the longstanding community health and training institutions associated with Assam Medical College.
For nearly seven decades, the centre has provided essential public health services and served as a training ground for healthcare professionals and students.
The centre has been involved in community healthcare activities, including outpatient services, immunisation programmes, outbreak investigation and control, health education, research and academic programmes.
The new diagnostic laboratory is expected to strengthen the centre’s diagnostic capabilities and healthcare services for the surrounding population. It will also support research, academic activities and practical training in community medicine.
