Pasighat: The Mebo Area Yameng Kebang (MAYK) has been formally constituted as a common and representative youth platform for peace, unity, welfare and development in the Mebo area of Arunachal Pradesh’s East Siang district.
During a meeting held on Friday, Indu Yommin was unanimously declared the organisationโs first president, while Kalen Pertin was appointed general secretary. The meeting continued the earlier discussions held at the ADC Conference Hall on August 16.
The gathering discussed the formation of MAYK, its organisational structure, aims and objectives, leadership and future course of action. Bodong Yirang, Chief Advisor of the Adi Baane Kebang, was unanimously nominated as chairman of the meeting.
Bogum Bokang Kebang President Nakmin Perme and senior social worker Gekong Pertin were also present and participated in the discussions.
According to the resolution adopted during the meeting, the formation of MAYK received the approval and consent of legitimate representatives and members from villages across the Mebo area, from Bodak to Mer and Sigar to Aohali.
The House unanimously agreed on the need for a united and representative youth organisation to work collectively for the peace, welfare, progress and development of the area.
Following discussions, the House regularised the acting leadership and authorised Yommin and Pertin to take the necessary steps for the formal establishment and functioning of the organisation.
The two office-bearers were also entrusted with constituting MAYKโs Executive Body while ensuring representation from both Mebo Banggo and Monggu Banggo.
The meeting further resolved that the president, general secretary and Executive Body would draft the organisationโs Constitution and Bye-laws.
The document will define MAYKโs aims and objectives, organisational structure, membership provisions, administrative procedures, tenure and responsibilities of office-bearers, meetings and future activities.
The proposed Constitution and Bye-laws will subsequently be placed before a General Body Conference of youths from the Mebo area for discussion and approval.
Addressing the gathering, Bodong Yirang, Nakmin Perme and Gekong Pertin gave advice to the newly selected leaders and called upon the members to maintain unity and responsibility.
Gekong Pertin voluntarily contributed Rs 25,000 to the newly formed organisation.
Kangge Tayeng delivered the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the chairman, senior members and all participants for their suggestions, presence and cooperation.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to work together for the peace, progress, welfare and development of the Mebo area.
