Bordumsa: The administration in Arunachal Pradesh’s Bordumsa has stepped up security preparations ahead of the resumption of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Electoral Roll, with a multi-agency coordination meeting scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, a day before the fresh hearing of pending claims and objections at Bijoypur.
Additional District Magistrate, Bordumsa Sub-Division, Sabadam Tayeng, Arunachal Pradesh Civil Service (APCS-Admin Grade), has convened the meeting at 11 a.m. at the ADC Chamber in Bordumsa to review the prevailing law-and-order situation in connection with the SIR exercise and discuss the promulgation of prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.
The meeting follows disruption during an earlier hearing of claims and objections relating to polling station 49/33 in Bijoypur. According to a notice issued by the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), proceedings held on September 3 at the Panchayat Hall in Bordumsa and later adjourned to September 4 at the ADC Office could not be completed due to disruption and the ensuing law-and-order situation allegedly created by Form-7 objectors and their supporters.
The security meeting will bring together representatives of the Assam Rifles, CRPF and local police. The Deputy Commandant of C-Company, 20 Assam Rifles Camp Bordumsa; Deputy Commandant of the QRT, CRPF Camp Bordumsa; and Assistant Commandant of E-Company, 186 Battalion, CRPF Camp Bordumsa, have been asked to attend.
The Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Miao, the Officer-in-Charge and the second Officer-in-Charge of Bordumsa police station have also been asked to attend the meeting.
The Deputy Commissioner, Changlang, has been informed about the meeting, while the Superintendent of Police, Changlang, has been requested to issue necessary instructions to field units. The Assam Rifles, CRPF and police officers concerned have also been directed to take necessary action.
Meanwhile, the ERO has scheduled a fresh hearing of the pending claims and objections for September 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Government Secondary School, Bijoypur.
According to the ERO’s notice, 30 applications in Form-6 and 198 applications in Form-7 concerning the polling station remain pending.
Form-6 applicants whose claims are pending and Form-7 objectors whose applications remain undecided have been directed to attend the hearing in person. Electors against whom Form-7 applications are pending have also been asked to appear with documents supporting their respective cases.
The ERO has said that failure to attend the hearing will not prevent disposal of the applications and that decisions may be taken on the basis of material available on record.
The Superintendent of Police, Changlang, and the Officer-in-Charge of Bordumsa Police Station have been directed to ensure security at the hearing venue. The Booth Level Officer of 49/33-Bijoypur has been instructed to publicise the fresh schedule and individually inform the concerned claimants, objectors and electors.
The September 9 coordination meeting will take place a day before the rescheduled hearing, which is expected to take up nearly 230 pending applications.
