Imphal: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on August 26 assured Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh that the Central government would fulfil the aspirations of the people of the state.
Shah made the assurance when Singh called on him at his official residence in New Delhi at around 3 pm. Amit Shah will also visit the state in the first week of October this year.
During his visit, the Union Home Minister will lay the foundation stone of the new Senapati Medical College and oversee other developmental projects in the state.
Khemchand Singh said that the Union Home Minister had agreed to lay the foundation stone of the new medical college in Senapati district. The State Cabinet had recently decided to open a new medical college in Senapati district, which is predominantly inhabited by Nagas.
Amit Shah gave a patient hearing to all the issues relating to the state raised by Khemchand Singh. The Union Home Minister then informed the Manipur Chief Minister that the Central government would fulfil the aspirations of the people of Manipur.
The Union Home Minister also lauded the State Government for its success in resuming the Imphal-Dimapur-Guwahati bus service and ensuring free movement on National Highway 2.
Later, Chief Minister Singh also met Union Minister of Minority Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju at his official residence in New Delhi.
The two leaders discussed a wide range of issues concerning the state of Manipur.
Khemchand Singh requested the Union Minister to support the development and welfare of minority communities in the state. He sought assistance from the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs for various developmental projects.
The two leaders also discussed issues relating to the Manipur Assembly elections slated for early next year.
Rijiju assured the Manipur Chief Minister that his ministry would provide all possible assistance to the state.
